護理健管類 An Evaluation of Demand and Supply of the Midwifery Manpower in Taiwan Area

Abstract
This plan aims to evaluate the midwifery manpower in Taiwan area, which will be reevaluated by hospital managers, obstetrics doctors, executive units (the department of health, the Ministry of Education), qualified midwifery professionals, and nursing staff of obstetrics units. The research result can serve as references for the midwifery manpower planning of obstetrics units, the construction of the cooperative mode of obstetrics doctors, obstetric nursing staff, and midwives. And the project has been conducted by survey research and public hearings. The research targets include obstetric nursing staff and midwives, hospital officers, obstetric doctors, representative of executive units in government, representative of Taiwan Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and representatives of Midwifery Association. It is noted that all research instruments have been checked by Delphi Method, face validity, and trustworthy validity. The research results show that the midwifery manpower should be enlarged, which is the consensus of the representatives of midwives, nursing staff, doctors, associations, female groups, and governmental units. For this can raise the nursing quality of laboring women and suffice to help with the insufficiency of obstetric doctors (residents in hospitals). In addition, the cooperative mode of obstetric doctors and midwives should be constructed in the future. And the duties, obligation, operation procedures, and educational training related to obstetric doctors, obstetric nursing staff, and midwives should be well explained as clearly as possible.
