Paul Tseng (Prof. Dr. Ahuei) has been starting his translation career since he was a university student. It is more than three decades that he has been devoted to the translation career. He translated Christian sermons and Greek grammar books for a well-known Christian publishing company when he was an undergraduate. And it’s in 1998 that he officially started his own workshop of editing and translation. For about two decades of persistent hard-work, his translation covers the following fields—nursing medical reports, Chinese classical literature, academic reports on education, translation on technology, academic reports on art, and general translation. In addition, his publication related to translation covers the fields including English grammar, English writing, English sentence patterns, and journalistic English.
First, he worked as a translation assistant for Prof. Guo, former dean of National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences, being responsible for translating nursing academic reports into English. Second, as a shareholder of Wanjuanloug (萬卷樓) publishing company, he has been translating classical Chinese literature into English. And “Discourse Analysis in Chinese Composition” (篇章結構學) can be said to be his main contribution to the field of comparative literature. Third, he has worked as a collaborative moderator in the research project of National Academy for Educational Research (教育研究院), being responsible for translating educational research papers into English. Fourth, in recent years, he has offered the course of English writing and translation in the graduate school of engineering at Taipei University of Technology, being responsible for teaching Ph.D. students to write their English research reports. Fifth, he also has been translating DM and academic reports for painters for the sake of publication and art exhibition. Finally, his expertise has been extended to English translation for a general purpose. He is a talented, productive, and sincere translator.
Furthermore, his publication related to translation is as follows: Tung-hua English grammar book (東華多功能英文文法), Rainbow Translation Practice (虹橋翻譯式作文法練習), Tung-hua Classical English Sentence Patterns and Translation Drills (東華經典句型暨翻譯練習), Tung-hua Journalistic English (新聞英語入門). And his English essay entitled “Response to Prof. Uwe’s Dr. Faust” is elegantly included in Prof. Uwe and Prof. David Lovell’s forthcoming publication by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This is his great pleasure and honor as a native Taiwanese.
